The Process

  1. What is a General Contractor?
  2. Where do we go from here?
  3. What is a Specification and Cost Analysis (SCA)?
  4. What do you have in mind?
  5. Why discuss your budget.
  6. Designing - the fun part.
  7. Materials and Products - so much to choose from.
  8. What are Specialty Contractors?
  9. Bringing it all together - the "almost" finale.
  10. Finally the Schedule - When will it be finished?
  11. Glitches and Changes.

Where do we go from here?

First Meeting: During this meeting, we will conduct a "mutual" interview, to make sure that we are right for you and that your project is right for us. We are both looking for a comfortable fit, and we will discuss the following:
  1. Your ideas and desires
  2. The project's target budget
  3. Possible designs
  4. Basic materials
  5. Potential scheduling
  6. The Pre-Construction Agreement
    Second Meeting:
  1. Sign the Pre-Construction Agreement
  2. Obtain the Specification and Cost Analysis fee
  3. Begin to develop plans for the project
    Third Meeting:
  1. Firm up the final design, material selections, color selections and remaining details
  2. Invite specialty contractors to view the site for their comments
  3. Discuss and change any other minor items
    Final Meeting:
  1. Review final plans, materials, etc. in detail
  2. Set a schedule with start and completion dates
  3. Sign the contract
  4. Obtain a "commencement" down payment
